Thanks for this great app.
But…it doesnt seem to work anymore. I guess AOL must have found out about it. It just cannot download them. I dont get why.
Btw do U have anything on downloading music videos from iTunes for Windows? I search all over the internet and the only thing I found was on the uneasysilence website, but that doesnt really work either.
Thanks
Take care 🙂

Anyway, it’s really a gr8 tool!

Sure it works. The web based version works just fine other than the fact it return a .flv file instead of a .mov

i used your GAMV-PHP, and it successfully worked on getting the desired flv files. i have plenty of converters, all failed on the attempt to convert. ive had this problem before with myspace videos/youtube videos and the problem was the site where i downloaded them. i’d find a different site for the same videos, and it would work there. this is the only online site that i know of for AOL videos and was suprised to find it!
so is there any way you could possibly fix this problem of not being able to convert the files easily/at all?
has anyone had success in converting the files they download?
does anyone know of any alternative sites for AOL videos?
i would greatly appreciate any help!

Do you think you could get the mov files instead of the flv.
The quality is nowhere near the same.
Would this be possible?
Thank You

The FLV video quality was so bad. It’s far more better when the video is still in MOV format.
Is it possible to get the high quality video in MOV format instead of FLV low quality video ?

The script checks to see if a .mov file is available if there is none then it defaults to the .flv

how to fix gamv? can anyone tell me i use windows xp & dont know how to open realbasic file that i downloaded
March 19th, 2007 at 2:49 am
The way to get the mov instead of flv:
modify last part of link from “_xxx_dl.flv” to _dl.mov”
Example:
FLV: http://pdl.stream.aol.com/aol/us/aolmusic/2007/hof/hof_rem_induction_460_dl.flv
MOV: http://pdl.stream.aol.com/aol/us/aolmusic/2007/hof/hof_rem_induction_dl.mov
Worked OK for me (so far, till AOL finds out again I suppose)

I’ve ripped about 30 videos from AOL in the past 2 days so this definitely works. Alot of the time the video will rip in .wmv format also which is a plus.
1. Got and download a program called “URL Snooper” (or something similar) The program will find the urls of any streaming media.
2. Download a program called “HiDownload” (or something similar) this is a download manager.
3. Open the video you want to rip in your browser. “URL Snooper” should pick it up very soon (it usually finds 5 or 6 urls for the video thats open but not all of them are links to the actual video)
4. copy the URL from “URL Snooper” and add it to the download list in “HiDownload” (if the first doesn’t work try another, as i said before, “URL Snooper” usually gives you about 5 or 6 url but not all of them are links to the actual video.)
NOTE: I strongly suggest going to video.aol.com and searching for your desired videos. any video that has the word “free” beside it is an AOL video and will stream from AOL, meaning it will definitely work with this system.

It seems (surely) every video is available in these three formats (I learnt through experimenting, there could be more):
1) Video for Windows (.wmv) – 700k max
2) Quicktime (.mov) – 700k max
3) Flash video (.flv) – 700k max
I think Quicktime is the best in quality, I`m downloading multiple formats at once (through proxy :-I) to compare quality…
Just change the “format” HTTP GET parameter to one of the following to get the URL in the respective format:
“fl”, “wm”, “qt”
Without quotes.
